Storm’s a comin’. Maybe. Tropical storm Erica has done a lot of damage in the Caribbean and is sort of expected to possibly land in Florida early next week maybe. (They don’t know). I’m going to stock up on Pumpkin Spice because it’ll be our only currency after a hurricane.

It’s the tenth anniversary of a bunch of people who don’t know to get out of the path of a hurricane. According to Hallmark’s traditional anniversary gift list, we should give Katrina something made out of tin or aluminum. Like a FEMA trailer.

Physicist Stephen Hawking says there could be a way out of a black hole. Great news for UAB fans!

And a few things you need to know …

On this date in 1907, United Parcel Service began in Seattle. That was much better than their original slogan, “We’d love to handle your package!”

Didn’t we already do this? They’re saying today is national burger day. Looking around, it looks like America needs a national salad day.

McDonald’s says it will open its first restaurant in Siberia, which will be convenient. If anyone ever says, “I’d rather die than eat here!” you can just tell them to step outside!

One of the two new giant panda cubs has died at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Jeb Bush called it a “tragedy” while Chris Christie said, “Is anybody going to eat that?”

You know the big Halloween costumes this year are going to be Caitlin Jenner, Trump, prison pant-suited Clinton and Jared from Subway … but what if you REALLY want to cause a complainy-pants uproar? There is a Cecil the Lion Killer costume. Costumeish.com is selling a stuffed severed lion’s head and a bloody dentist’s shirt that is guaranteed to get you yelled at by outraged mobs. Here’s the thing though – the company will give 15% of the profits from this costume to African Wildlife Foundation’s Justice for Cecil fundraiser. So by wearing this getup, you are doing more than most people who loved the lion they only knew existed after he was already dead. So you get to be smug. Happy Halloween!

And … See you at the Carver Theatre Sunday for the premiere of “For a Few Zombies More!” This is the thing you saw online as #RedSeason and it is going to be awesome. It starts at 5PM but you need to get there early to get a seat. The festival can’t guarantee you a seat (unless you bought a guaranteed seating ticket) which is a brilliantly capitalist business model. Sidewalkfest.com has the info and maybe even a map.
