It's "Cinco de Mayo." Do you open your Corona's on Cinco de Mayo Eve or Cinco de Mayo morning? It’s also time to get out and hit those “After Star Wars Day” sales!

California Chrome won the Kentucky derby over the weekend –  I have a dream of owning three racehorses. I’d name them “first” “Second” and “Third” and enter them all in the same race. They may not win, but the commentary would be a riot. I still can’t believe Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t even place.

Aussie officials are meeting to determine the next phase in the search for Schrödinger’s Plane, while Malaysian authorities re-examine the flight path of Flight 370 to make sure they’re looking in the correct place. #LetItGo.  I actually bought a new phone on eBay, turns out it’s made in Malaysia. It worked great until I activated "airplane mode" and now I can’t find the darn thing.

We're now finding out that Clippers owner Donald Sterling's son shot his best friend in 1999, in a case where the Beverly Hills police concluded, “No rational person could possibly believe Scott Sterling's claim of self-defense," but the DA refused to file charges. Meanwhile, the Chicago chapter of the NAACP is presenting Scott Sterling with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Toronto mayor Rob Ford says, despite video evidence of additional debauchery, he really IS going to get clean. If Ford is going to seek treatment for his various addictions, perhaps he should start with his need for attention.

And a few things you need to know …

"The Young and the Restless" received 26 Daytime Emmy nominations last week. 13 for the young, and 13 for the restless.  "General Hospital," was almost completely snubbed this year. Probably had some correlation with ObamaCare.

The CEO of Starbucks announced plans to open 600 new stores in the United States. Most of those will be inside existing Starbucks.

Seattle's mayor wants a $15 minimum wage, which means businesses will be able to continue paying less for the help they'll need moving out of town.

And … Mother's Day is this Sunday. That very important day when we honor mom and set the price range for gifts on Father's Day.
